Make sure the sill at the bottom of the window frame is pitched downward to drain water toward the exterior.
This will allow any water that comes in through the screen to drain to the outside.
Causes of door leaks there are many potential pathways for water to leak in through a door but the biggest opening is of course the doorway itself.
Inspect the sill area of the patio door.
This is the most common place for water infiltration.
Door bottoms are important but leaks can also be caused by the door sill.
Insert a hole punch into the hinges and remove the pins to remove the doors from the door frame.
Even brand new door bottoms won t create a secure seal if your door sill isn t properly adjusted.
Use a small wire to unplug these holes.
It may seem obvious but a door left open or one that cannot be closed tightly because of wear and tear is a significant problem during a storm.
Clean dirt debris and insects from weep holes in the frame bottom.
You can do this by taking steps to make the bottom of the door frame waterproof before you install the door.
Door bottoms seal between the panel and door sill so watch for signs when your door bottom needs replacing.
